20 Mental Barriers You Should Let Go Of

mental barriers
1. Let go of attachments: According to Buddhist Philosophy, attachment is one of the roots of all suffering. I can’t agree more. We attach ourselves to all sorts of things even the most self-slapping stupid notions in the universe. Are you attached to something? How much are you attached? Is it keeping you back from something? Is it making you suffer? Look at it straight through – break the illusion. Know that every attachment can be detached.
2. Let go of guilt: Guilt has absolutely no function whatsoever. Think about it – what could guilt possibly resolve? It just holds you imprisoned to self-mortification and sorrow.
3. Let go of Negative thinking: Pessimistic thoughts and negative attitudes keep you locked in a dark aura that permeates in everything you do. It’s a dangerous line to follow. Know that thoughts influence the world around us. Enough said
4. Let go of self-criticism: Many times we are our biggest pain in the neck. We criticize ourselves with the best of intentions but then go over the acceptable limit. Criticism then turns to disempowering messages. Let go of it and be kind and gentle to yourself.
5. Let go of prejudice: Prejudice keeps you bitter and resentful. It restricts your opportunities to connect meaningfully with others.
6. Let go of compulsive thinking: Do you keep on doing something just because you feel you have to do it without any apparent reason? It’s time to honestly reflect on its usefulness and its side-effects.
7. Let go of the need for others’ approval: We often tend to seek approval by others. This is an attention-seeking behaviour and one which threatens our self-confidence and authenticity.
8. Let go of limiting beliefs: Most of our limits are self-imposed. Life doesn’t have defined limits. Our beliefs do. Learn to identify those beliefs which narrow down your possibilities for action and let go of them.
9. Let go of grudges: Let me put it this way – grudges are bad for your heart. Keep them long enough or numerous enough and your health will eventually suffer. Research is showing the relationship between heart disease and emotions such as anger and grudges.
10. Let go of the “I’ll do it tomorrow” attitude: This is a delaying tactic of your subconscious saboteur trying to keep you from accomplishing important tasks. Try to be aware of it when you think it and consciously push yourself to do at least the first part of it. Naturally you will then continue the whole task because the hard part is only the beginning.
11. Let go of anxious thoughts: These are born out of our fear of the unknown and uncertainty about the future. The thought that something unpleasant may happen is only an unreal thought we have created ourselves. Ask yourself: “Is this thought based on real evidence?”
12. Let go of past heartbreaks: A heartbreak can take quite a long time to heal. Your heart is locked as your mind keeps on hovering over the same thought. The thing to realize is that in heartbreaks it is not the loss that make you suffer but the idea you create in your heads about that loss.
13. Let go of bad memories: Sometimes we remember unpleasant things that stir up some sad feelings in us. Bad memories make you relive those sad moments in the present. Keep them where they are – in the past.
14. Let go of useless things: We also attach ourselves to things of all sort. Sometimes we clutter our life with useless objects. Let go of them and simplify your working and living environment.
15. Let go of bad company: If there are people around you that are insincere, harbour envy, are highly pessimistic or disempowering, keep away from them.
16. Let go of the idea that you are a product of your past: One very common mistake we fall into is the belief that we are determined by our past experiences. This limits our view on future possibilities since we are stuck in believing that the future can only be more of the same as our past.
17. Let go of identifying yourself with your job/role: This is one of the risks of modern day life. Since roles are always becoming more specialized we think that we are part of our roles. This makes us lose perspective of our true nature.
18. Let go of counterproductive habits: These are the repetitive patterns of behavior that obstruct or distract you from constructive and productive behavior. They can be anything from watching too much TV and overeating to self-destructive behavior such as drug abuse.
19. Let go of taking things too personally: Very often we are disturbed emotionally because we interpret people’s words and actions from a very subjective perspective. When we take things personally we get irritated, hurt and disappointed.  When you look at life from a more detached and objective point of view, we stay emotionally balanced and focused on our priorities.
20. Let go of the ticking clock: Time is one of our biggest sources of stress. Well, not time really but our perception of it. Sometimes we are enslaved by the concept of time even in our moments of leisure. This has devoured a lot of our genuine freedom and space. Learning to spend moments without the constant awareness of time can be liberating and finally productive.

How to live a thousand lives?

overflow

What is happiness?

happiness

1. I don’t really know, and I think that’s where the beauty comes from.

2. Happiness is realizing that there’s nowhere else you’d rather be than where you are right now.

3. Happiness is being content with where you are, who you’re with and what you have right now. It is living in the moment.

4. Not caring what other people think about you, enjoying those you have around you, and enjoying what you have in your life and appreciating it.

5. Being content with yourself. Being at ease with what you have and what you don’t. Living life like you want to live it.

6. Happiness is many things. Above all, it is a choice. It is taking action, it accepting yourself for who you are and where you are in life. It is also our relationships with others. Our actions determine our happiness, and we choose our actions, choose to be happy!!!

7. Happiness is either the lack of fear or the inability for fear to have an effect on you. Happiness is not being afraid to love someone and not being afraid if they don’t love you back. It’s not having to worry about getting something you need for survival or basic dignity, while not worrying if you can’t obtain a single item on top of that. (as a book I read stated, “want everything, need nothing”). It’s not being afraid of: being rejected/ accepted, failing, your image and how it’s percieved, looking like an idiot, what people think of you, your future, the future of the world, etc… I think we should always strive to improve each of these things, being happy doesn’t mean instant acceptance and doing nothing, but just the comfort in knowing that even if you try to improve any of these and fail, it’s still ok.

8. I’m giving a much simpler answer then all the others, but that’s what I believe happiness is. Putting together all of the little things and appreciating how wonderful life is. Maybe it’s just a lazy day in bed with tea and a good book, or staring up at the sky for a minute. These things make me happy, and that’s worth more then all the big things.

9. Happiness to me is being content with where you are this second. When you let the worries and fears fade away and you look at the reality of life and be grateful for every second your breathing, every moment you’re alive. Life isn’t all roses and chocolate, but it is beautiful, and it’s the appreciation of that beauty that I see as happiness.

10. Feeling really good about yourself, the day, and feeling that nothing is really as bad as it seemed

11. Happiness to me, is being able to truly smile even when I’m going through my worst.

Something you might not know about the Kennedy family...( event, record, geogrphy, history, people, locationb, news, strange, unexplained, matter)

The Kennedy Family
Aside from the tragic assassinations of John F. Kennedy in 1963 and his brother Bobby Kennedy in 1968, their brother Ted Kennedy ran his car off a bridge in Chappaquiddick in 1969, and managed to escape - but his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, was not so lucky - she drowned, leading to conspiracy theories that Kennedy had driven the car into the water on purpose. In 1999, JFK's son died in a plane crash with his wife and her sister.

Can you guess how old he is?

We should count our blessing to live and work in New Zealand (which country offers a four weeks paid annual leave under the Labor Department's law?)
Check this poor fellow out, see how he aged within a three short years!

The Woman Jack Nicholson Thought Was His Sister Was His Mother

Digg Digg
Keira Knightley, Jack Nicholson MotivatorThe woman Jack Nicholson thought was his sister for a good portion of his life, turned out to be his mother.
In 1974, Jack Nicholson’s movie Chinatown was opening in theaters and Time Magazine chose to do a cover story on him.  Someone working at Time Magazine called Jack up to verify some facts that would be in the article; among these, was the fact that the person who he’d thought was his sister, June Nicholson, was in fact his mother.  Nicholson knew nothing about this, so denied it.  At this point his “sister” was dead, and so was his “mother”, dying in 1963 and 1970 respectively.
He did, however, call up his “brother-in-law”, Shorty, the husband of his supposed other sister who was in fact his aunt, to verify that this wasn’t true.  Shorty knew nothing about this, so told him that it wasn’t true and they ended the conversation.  Several hours later though, he got a phone call from Shorty: “Jack, it’s Shorty, I’m gonna put Lorraine on the phone.  I just want to say one thing – she’s been crying all night.  Here she is.”  Lorraine, who he now found out was his aunt, not his sister, then told him his mother was in fact the deceased June, who he had thought was his sister and the woman he had thought was his mother, was in fact his grandmother.
Nicholson was 37 years old at this point and both his real mother and the woman he had thought was his mother, were already dead;  both had chosen not to tell him.  Indeed, he even spent time with his “sister”, who was his mother, at the hospital just before she died.  He was filming one of his first movies at the time and shooting in Mexico, so he had to leave her as he desperately needed the money and it was his first major film.  Her last words to him were “Should I wait?” and he said “No” and left.  She died shortly thereafter succumbing to cancer; he got the call when he arrived in Mexico on location.
The initial reason for keeping up this charade was that his mother, June, had gotten pregnant with him at the age of 16 with someone unknown (he still doesn’t know, but doesn’t care to find out either).  June’s mother wanted June to continue to pursue her promising dancing career, thus she would take care of Jack posing as his mother, with June as his sister.
Nicholson is on record actually as saying he’s glad they kept this secret to their graves, “I didn’t have to deal with it with them. They were dead.”; “I am that kind of person-what do I feel-and had the tools to know what I feel. Gratitude. I’ve often said about them: Show me any women today who could keep a secret, confidence, or an intimacy to that degree, you got my kind of gal.”
Bonus Fact:
  • The famous singer Bobby Darin had the same type of thing happen to him.  At age 32, he found out the woman he’d thought was his sister was in fact his mother.  He had been contemplating a career in politics, which prompted his “sister” to reveal that she was his mother.
